The New York Photo Association (NYPA) was founded in 2008 and became a member of the Federation Internationale de l’Art Photographique (FIAP) and Photographic Society of America (PSA).

In the following years, photography as an art form has expanded and its acceptance as a means of expression led to the development of the Society's activities. NYPA has established itself as a recognized artistic body, organizing seminars, photographic excursions, and discussions. NYPA, as an ILFIAP in the USA, processed a total of 9 FIAP distinctions from 2010 to 2017. NYPA also processed 5 FIAP Patronage applications in the USA from 2015 to 2018 including: 1st Oceanic-Atlantic Circuit-USA, Atlantic 2017, 2nd PSA-MET international 2017, 3rd PSA-MET International 2018, submitted BPS 2020, International Salon New York (ISNY) 2019, 2020, 2021,2022, New York Photo fair (NYPF) 2020, 2021, 2022.
